The consortium in which the UMU, CEBAS-CSIC and IMIDA participate, together with Barahonda and Hacienda del Carche, hold a face-to-face and online day to improve the quality of Yecla grapes and wine, November 23, 2022.

The in-person and on-line seminar on the Comprehensive Program for improving the quality of grapes and wine in the face of new scenarios derived from climate change (Vid4vino) was held at the facilities of Bodegas Barahonda. Antonio Candela, general director of Bodegas Barahonda, has stated that "these conferences demonstrate the importance of public-private collaboration, where the involvement of administrations, universities, research centers and companies are of vital importance for the improvement of the wine sector —so important in the Region— being the Region of Murcia the only one in Spain with three Denominations of Origin».

The new climatic and commercial scenarios have caused a change in field techniques and different oenological processes have influenced the adaptation of viticulture to the current agricultural sector. These conferences are part of a strategic project included in the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of the Region of Murcia (RIS3Mur Strategy). This project is co-financed by the Ministry of Business, Industry and Spokesperson and the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the operational program European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) of Murcia 2014-2020.
