Last Friday, May 24, the 3rd Nomination Enoturista Gala was held at the Concha Segura Theater in Yecla, where the Francisco Salzillo de Yecla Choir and Dance Group was named Enoturist 2013 .
Then, the awards ceremony of the VI DO Yecla San Isidro Wines Contest 2013 at Bodegas Barahonda was held .
The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá , the Mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño and practically the entire wine sector of the DO Yecla attended the delivery. The winners in this contest were Castaño Wineries, La Purisima Wineries, Evine Wineries and Barahonda Wineries . Then everyone could enjoy a gala dinner at the Barahonda Restaurant located in the same winery.
The counselor commented that "the Yecla wines are being awarded and recognized by prestigious winemakers".
The Denomination of Origin Yecla covers an area of 5,954 hectares of vineyards, located within the limits of the municipality and has eight wineries attached to the Regulatory Council, as well as 500 wine growers. The marketing of the past 2011-2012 campaign was seven million liters of bottled wine, with 92 percent of sales destined for the foreign market.
