In the Millésime Bio Challenge contest, the Barahonda Organic Barrica 2015 wine from Bodegas Barahonda has been awarded with a gold medal, while Barahonda Organic 2016 has received a silver medal. It was in the 11th edition of Challenge Millésime Bio 2018, held at the end of January in Montpellier.

After tasting 1516 different wines during a blind tasting, a jury of renowned winemakers, sommeliers, merchants, journalists and other professionals of the sector, have agreed to award Barahonda Organic Barrica 2015 with a gold medal and a silver medal for wine. Barahonda Organic 2016. It is important to highlight that the Barahonda Organic Barrica 2015 is the only wine of the DO Yecla and Region of Murcia awarded in the highest category.

Challenge Millésime Bio is the contest of the World Organic Wine Fair , Millésime Bio. It is organized by Sudvinbio (the Interprofessional Association of
Organic Wines of Languedoc -Roussillon, France) every year, during the month of November, prior to the fair that is held every year at the end of January. It is open to all organic wines produced in accordance with European regulations on organic agriculture in force. Wines in the process of conversion to organic farming are not accepted.


Objectives of the contest:

• Publicize the quality of organic wines, professionals and the general public.
• Promote a constant search for quality, by wine growers.
• Identify the best wines and products with the best quality / price ratio among the wines of the fair's exhibitors.

The concept:

The wines that compete are selected by color (red, pink, white, liquor, effervescent), by country and by large production regions. The jury is chaired by a recognized professional, whether French or foreign. The members of the jury are professional wine buyers (sommeliers, merchants, marketers, importers ...) oenologists and specialized journalists. The samples are presented anonymously and a blind tasting is carried out. The jury does not look for typical wines, but rather wines that they like. The special mentions of the jury are attributed to the best wines, among the gold medals.

Obtaining a medal in the Challenge Millésime Bio contest is a commercial asset for buyers, winemakers, merchants, importers ... since this contest enjoys:

On the occasion of the contest, a brochure is published to present the results, together with the communication actions on the internet and about the specialized press. The award-winning wines are in free tasting at the Millésime Bio Challenge Space, during the Millésime Bio fair
