The Yecla Wine Route association, as it did four years ago, reiterates its total disagreement against the installation of a pig farm in the vicinity of Mount Arabí, upon learning that work and activity licenses have been requested again in Montealegre del Castillo, and the request to the CHS to change the use of agricultural water to livestock for this same project.

We understand that this installation is an attack on the landscape and the natural historical heritage of Yecla, putting at risk the great tourist offer of this environment. We consider that the enotourist who comes to carry out tastings between vineyards or hiking days in this area, will stop coming, since nobody wants to be walking or tasting a wine in a place where they constantly smell the slurry generated by these macro-farms.

And it is that it will not only affect the tourism sector, but it will also affect traditional agriculture, putting our soils, our air and especially our water at risk. Therefore, it would directly attack the aims that the Yecla Wine Route association pursues, such as promoting the development of ENOTOURISM, the conservation of the landscape and the enhancement of the wide natural, landscape, environmental, cultural, historical heritage, etc. .

Monte Arabí is a Natural Area protected for its geological importance and for its heritage wealth, an area highlighted from the cultural point of view by UNESCO, and this cannot be harmed to the detriment of a productive system that is, today, being questioned in the most developed countries of the EU, given the pollution it produces.

That is why the Yecla Wine Route Association shows its discomfort and resounding rejection of the serious attack that these facilities would imply on our heritage, and we join the rest of the institutions, associations and other entities that fight and position themselves against this project.

Yecla Wine Route supports the demonstration called this Sunday to express its resounding rejection of intensive pig farming projects next to Mount Arabí.
