The next 2nd of December will take place the 8th edition of the ENOLOGICAL CEREMONY FIESTAS DE LA VIRGEN , an event focused on the dissemination of the wine culture and the promotion of wine produced by the wineries of our city.
The Minerva Square, in collaboration with the Town Hall of Yecla, the Wine Route of Yecla, the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin "Vinos de Yecla", and the wineries attached to the Route, Bodegas Castaño, Bodegas La Purísima, Bodegas Señorío de Barahonda, Bodegas Evine and Bodega Casa Boquera , organize this event annually, an event that over the years is consolidated within the calendar of our Patron Saint Festivals and wine calendar of our city's Wine Route.
As in previous years, the activities of the contest will consist of a contest of amateur tasters and a talk about the world of wine.
Amateur tasters contest
The contest will take place at 11:30 in the facilities of the Regulatory Council.
The contest of tasters will be open to the general public , considered amateur and therefore the participation of professionals dedicated to enology will not be allowed. The Escuadra Minerva Association will carry out the organization of this contest. It will award three cash prizes to its first three classified. All participants will be presented with a diploma and a bottle of wine , a gift offered by the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin "Vinos Yecla".
The rules of the contest can be found on the website of the Escuadra Minerva Association www.escuadraminerva.com . The pre-registration to the contest, which must be done from the website of the squad ends on November 26.
The prizes will consist of the delivery of cash and a trophy. The first one will be delivered by the Hon. City Council of Yecla, the second by the Wine Route Association of Yecla and the third by the Escuadra Minerva Association, and will amount to 200, 150 and 100 € respectively.
Conference and awards ceremony
In the afternoon at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium, the conference will be held by Miguel Ángel Lozano Jiménez, our guest for this year.
In this act will be carried out the delivery of prizes of the contest celebrated in the morning in the facilities of the Regulatory Council.
Miguel Ángel Lozano Jiménez
He is born in Jumilla on March 25, 1994. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia. Currently, doctoral researcher at the International Doctoral School of the University of Murcia, Arts and Humanities Program.
His talk-exhibition will be about the application of wine , specifically the Monastrell variety, as ink and artistic element .
" The poetics of design in the continent-content symbiosis. Application in wine ink ", is the name of his work.
The present project gathers the results of the research work about the operative, plastic and poetic possibilities of the red wine of the Monastrell variety as an alternative pictorial procedure, and its materialization and commercialization by means of product design and packaging of a registered ink under the brand DAMAJUANA · WINE INK · WINE INK . The purpose is twofold: to approach and facilitate the process of pictorial creation from the ink of wine as a vehicle of artistic experimentation, and to promote the Monastrell wine variety, creating an image that unifies wine and art, tradition and modernity. The theoretical foundations are based, on the one hand, on the dyeing qualities of red wine, and on the other, on the symbolism of wine and referents in the History of art. At the moment it has registered in the Office of Patents and Marks of Spain a patent of invention that has obtained the maximum qualification by its high novelty and inventive activity.
